So my stated goal was to update my writing journal at least once per week; I’m finding now-almost a month after-that that might be a little too ambitious. I’ve been so swamped with work and the kids that I just haven’t had the time or energy to do it. I have a couple posts I started but then I just ran out of steam half-way through.
I’m responsible for bringing on a new section of our data warehouse and the deadline is fast approaching. They’re looking at sometime in November and it’s already almost November. That means I’m scrambling to get this finished and, just like tonight, I’m working some overtime to make that happen. That’s cutting into my “creative” time.
I’ve also been sick for the past four or five days and had to stay home from work yesterday. I really felt like shit. There’s no way I’m going to be able to churn out anything in that state.
The good news is that my attempts at time management have been helping some. I’m wasting less time now so I’m getting caught up on some of the day-to-day activities and chores that I was so far behind on. Quicken is up to date (I was two months behind on that) and all our photos are up to date and selected photos on the web. I’m still behind on home movies of the kids (four tapes worth) but I can work around that.
So, in the end, I haven’t really written too much over the past month. I have played guitar a bit, which is another one of my interests, so I count that as doing something for me. With more time I should be able to split it between guitar, writing, and programming. Those are really the three main things I’m interested in and what the focus of this site really is.
And, in order to stay true to managing time, I’m closing this post out right now. I just worked three hours on the data warehouse and I still have dishes to do.
Guess what? I also write horror and thriller novels. Click here to learn more...
